I’ve had the privilege of spending a lot of time in 2 & 3 John lately. Written by a man who witnessed Jesus’ life and ministry up close, these two very short letters were penned towards the end of his long life.
I’ve been struck by John’s clear exhortation to continue walking in truth and love. It’s the truth of the gospel found in Jesus Christ that unites us with other believers – those who sit next to us in church and those far across the world. This leads us to love one another, with a sacrificial and caring love that models Jesus, in a way that stands out today in our hard-hearted world.
It’s certainly not easy in this day and age to walk in truth and love, and it can be hard to balance the two well. Sometimes we err too much one way or the other. Yet, truth without love is harsh, and love without truth has no grounding. Thankfully, as believers, we walk this road together – united in the truth, loving God and one another each day.
We’ll be exploring these ideas at Grace Conference on Saturday 27 May, and I’d love to invite all women to come along. And, if you have teen girls in your life, please encourage them to come to Grace Girls. Let’s walk the road of faith together!
